Beauty is fleeting
Just watched extreme makeover on telly. WoaH! WOW! Its amazing how plastic surgery can do serious wonders to one's face. And not to mention what a great dose of confidence it gives to these extrememakeover-ers. Whilst it true that true beauty lies within & beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, having a pleasant face does help, no? Who wouldn't want to be good looking and attractive? Show me someone doesn't want to look such and I'll show you a liar. I think we all want to look our best, and that itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
The pursuit of beauty only becomes a stumbling block when one becomes obsessed. That obsession translates to vanity, which in turn distorts one's piorities in life. Imagine a vainpot squandering his/her money on beauty treatments/products & clothes instead of using these money on more worthwhile and substantial causes. (I must, at this point, interrupt to emphasize that guys can be just as vain as gals) I just don't see why some can splurge hundreds and even thousands of dollars on makeup and skin products, when they already look good!
Its really beyond me. It is necessary to have good and reliable skin products, but surely you don't need to buy the whole range from several brands simultaneously? That's an awful waste of money since these products aren't exactly cheap. I rather save these money up for a rainy day or use it on theatrical plays and books. Then again, maybe its just me. I'm just too bo-chup when it comes to such things. Being well-groomed and presentable is one thing, being vain and frivolous is another.
I pray we would all yearn for an extreme makeover, of another sort. To make a prayerful and conscious effort to be more Christ-like with each passing day. To have more humility, patience, compassion, kindness and generosity. To be thankful for the many blessings God has blessed us with - the opportunity to have an education, a job, parents, friends and the gift of life.
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30

Anyway, SPA?!!! Massage!! Man, I need one badly now!! I have nothing against these beauty treatments/products. I just don't think it necessary to go crazy & splurge excessively on them. :)
