What a blessed day
I am getting used to the early starts in the morning. Minus the morning traffic/human jam, it is really quite pleasant waking up to fresh air and dewy skies.
I walked to the train station with my kiddo brother this morning at 7.15am, and we chatted a little. Its amazing how fast kids these days grow. He's already 20 but will always be "ah boy" in my eyes. When I was doing the funny shift at the previous workplace, I don't see my brother till the weekend provided he's not out of the house early in the morning for his chess games.
After we parted our ways this morning, I reminisced on the days where I used to take him out to watch the latest disney show cartoons showing at the movie theatre. I would ask mum for $20 and we'll go out for lunch and movie. I think he was 7 or 8 and I was 5 years older then. I remembered his happy face whenever I told him I was going to take him to the movies! These days, its quite rare for us to be both home at the same time. Like now, I'm home tapping away and he's still not back from his chess training (My brother is a chinese weiqi fanatic and he goes for training thrice a week. He'll be going to Bangkok for some competition in 2 weeks time. That's how devoted and good he is at that black and white game, which I still cannot fathom..)
After work, I texted my younger sis who just started work at a new place today. Her new workplace is near my previous workplace and I went to meet her there, so I could show her the area and where to take bus etc. Well, she could probably figure it all out by herself but since I had the time, I figured I could go meet her and come home together with her. Its been a while since I last hanged out with my sister. No chess fanatism this time, but the presence of the big "b" aka boyfriends make it hard for us sisters to spend some quiet moments together.
So we trotted to the bus stop and I gave her the details on what buses to take etc. We yakked all the way home and I am glad she had a lovely first day at work & that her team mates seem pretty jovial and friendly towards her. And she certainly look happier than she was at the old workplace.
We got home around 8-ish all hungry and tired. Mum had dinner ready for us & both her and Dad were waiting for us to come home, to have dinner together. No delicacies but home-cooked dinner with family at home is always nice.
Sometimes it doesn't take much to feel happy and content. I am feeling blessed.
