comme ci comme ca

Back from offsite. Interesting and super tiring. It was a good session of team bonding :)

Am currently listening to..

It is true how music soothes the tired soul.

I am just chilling out in my room now with the music playing gently in the background. Nice.

My Tuesday had been an interesting one, I must say.

First of it all, I had a real big quarrel with the taxi driver in the morning. I was running late for my doctor's appointment so I hopped into a cab. Told him very clearly that I wanted to be dropped at Raffles Link.

So all we went, hitting the BKE and PIE. Ok, familiar roads I recognised so I was happily enjoying my ride.

He asked me again where I wanted to go. Raffles link, again I said.

When we hit Plaza Singapoura after Cavenagh Road, the darn &*^% taxi driver turned into Clemenceau Avenue instead of going straight down to City Hall.

"Uncle I am going to Raffles Link, you should have gone straight"
"No lah, go straight sure jammed one at this time... "
"No.. I've taken cabs at this hour many times. There is NO jam.. "
"Trust me, this way is faster.."

Fine, what could I do? He was already on the turning lane and there was no way to reverse. So I believed him, thinking that maybe he had some secret radar forewarning him of a sudden jam on my usual route.

Then I found the taxi circling round UE Square and hitting Raffles Place eventually...

URGH!!

"Uncle, I am going to Raffles Link!!! Not Raffles Place.... " My anger was raising...
"What?! How come you didn't tell me earlier when I asked you.."
"I did!!!!! I repeated 3 times and you said you know the place.."
"How I know.. most people come to Raffles Place not Raffles Link, what.. "

His voice kept raising louder and louder, insisting that it was my own fault that he drove to the wrong destination..

What, did he think I look easy to bully?? I glared at him and he probably sensed my anger. Then he kept defending that he wasn't out to cheat my money by going to the wrong route & proceeded to turn off the fare meter.

"Happy? I turned off the meter now. You can pay me what you usually pay..."
"Its NOT the money. I am running very late and I did tell you Raffles Link.. You should have clarified if you didn't know the place and not assume!!! "
"Its your fault for not saying it clearer..!!"
"I said it THREE times, and THREE times you nodded... "
"I am driving very fast already and cutting a lot of lanes...if you were going to Raffles Place, see how fast you reach... "
"It doesn't matter how fast you drive. You drove me to the wrong place....... Forget it, I don't want to quarrel with you anymore..."

Then off he went, driving like a mad person to Raffles Link. A normal 25 mins ride took bloody 40 mins......

And I was nice, really. I saw someone waiting for a cab before my intended drop off point and I actually asked the stupid taxi driver to drop me there so he can pick up the new passenger.

Thinking back, I should have warned the new passenger (which looks like a tourist) that the taxi driver is probably half deaf and she would need to shout her destination to him.

Bah. I took down the taxi number and his name. Should I call her the cab company and file a complaint? Hmm.

40 mins late for my Chiropractor's session. I felt really terrible cause there are patients waiting after me. I bitched about the horrendous taxi driver to her and apologised for being late. She was nice about it though she nagged me later about my back muscles.

Exercise, stretch your muscles, go do yoga/ pilates; she nagged throughout the 30 min session.

Chiro's sessions over. I went to meet an old secondary school friend for lunch. She's studying in Melb at the moment and is back for vacation.

It was great catching up and simply spending time together. Of course I had to tell her the taxi driver story and she sat there patiently listening to me bitch again.. :D

I would tell you more nitty gritty details of my eventful Tuesday but my fingers are feeling tired suddenly, so here are the snippets.

Met Shaun for coffee. We are going to take up golf lessons soon. Yay!

Changes at work again. More work and responsibilities coming up.

Possible overseas training attachment.. keeping my fingers crossed. Would really love to go but we'll see what happens. This will be 3rd quarter of the year if it works out.
