A mini MSN discovery

I have absolutely nothing to blog about, these days.

And it is not like life has taken to a freezing halt.

Hmm. Maybe I am just feeling lazy to type.

So... last week we moved workstations. Remember how I was bitching about my workstation being out in the open, where any/everyone can walk past and see exactly what I am doing?

And now, I've been 'upgraded' to a bigger workstation in a fengshui location. There is nobody behind me and there is finally privacy! Yay! ;)

And it was mumsy's birthday today. Dad and I took her out for lunch and some shopping before I was due for work. I could tell she was beaming with happiness ;)

Totally off track, but I can't help but feel bemused by this..

What is the longest time you spent on MSN/ICQ etc chatting with someone?

Moi? I did a 5 hour chat with someone nicknamed "MYS71C" back on New Year's Day, this year!!

1/1/2005
9:14:01 PM

This is not a love song.. c'est comme ca. to MYS71C : "hi"

1/2/2005
2:10:21 AM

MYS71C to This is not a love song.. c'est comme ca. : "tata!"

And if you were wondering who this mysterious fella is, he is none other than the current beau.

Did I ever mention I am a yakker and I am attracted to guys who can yak with me? :D We talked about everything and anything during that 5 hour. And geez, don't even ask me why we didn't forsake MSN and picked up the phone instead!

Haha!

And guess what, we met up the following day after the MSN chat for dinner. Heh.

I am a little green Jedi master!

Very sleepy, I am feeling.

Body aches, I have.

Sleep, I need.

Him, I love.

(I'm yoda-fied, after watching episode 3 of Star Wars, noticed how he speaks like that?! Heh)

At 3.30 am

I just finished writing all the cheques for last month's credit card bills.

I am feeling rather pleased, because I don't feel broke after signing off the cheques! :) And I am feeling even happier that I have more money to go into my savings account this month.

Wheee.

And ooh, check out this gorgeous clutch.

Its sorta a pearly-silverish colour and J'adore!

I've been eyeing it for weeks and amazingly it was on sale today when I walked past the shop.

Nice? ;)

My colleagues think its a little old looking, aka for older folks but I reckon its gorgeous in a timeless sorta way. Nothing fashionable, just plain and classic - I like!

Oui ou non?

"Ce monde appartient à ceux qui se lèvent tôt"

Je ne pense pas si!

Ce monde appartient a ceux qui se dorment tard!!

Cela est pourquoi Je suis éveillée à 4 heures du matin!

(You probably guess that I am being diligent and am doing my French devoirs "homework")

Zen Neeon!!

Do you think this is better than the I-Pod (mini)?

I'm mesmerised by the colours and the price's pretty snazzy too. Its also not very bulky and will fit nicely into my handbags. And man, check out the ulber-cool colours!!

5 Gb should be enough right? 2500 songs. I don't even think I have 2500 songs to download! :D

It even comes with FM radio and voice recorder! Extra plus point!!

PAMMY, where are thou?
Lizzie needs a pipsqueak from you.. Yoowhoo??

I am still around, but I have been very lazy to update my blog. Well truth is, I am working on fine-tuning my resume. The last update was way back in 2003!

Am I looking for a new job? I don't know, yet. Maybe.. we'll see.

I came across 2 job postings which I am rather keen on applying. Test my market value?

C'est vendredi!

Friday I'm in love!

A few reasons why I love Friday

1) Its the last workday of the week
2) It smells of the weekend which to me, symbolises pure joy!
3) Everyone around seems happier as well

And ah bollocks! it just hit me..

Reason #4 would be cause French lesson is just one day away... if only I had remembered to do my homework.

Ok I better get to it before the z monster strikes!

une note d'amour

So I was walking into the office today and dragging my lazy body to my workstation.

Plonked myself onto the chair, turned on my PC, opened up the drawer and threw in my bag, positioned my handphone into the piggy handphone holder. Glanced at the pile of paperwork on my in-tray.

Hardly exciting!

And then, I saw this!

Woah! Do I have a secret admirer or what?! :D

So I decided to text the baby who was having his lunch.

S: Did you leave a I love you note on my table?
K: Ha! Ha! Ha! Muack!
S: You ah! Muacks
K: Hee! Hee! Guess when!
S: Morning? When you came to the audi? Eh or last Friday?

Turned out he scribbed it on my note pad on Friday when he was waiting for me to leave work.

So sneaky! ;)

Oh yes my weekend - I wanted to blog about it but I was way too tired.

Saturday -

I had my French class in the afternoon as usual. Its more challenging now in the intermediate class. We are doing more conversational skills and my professeur even wants us to write a mock dialogure between Forrest Gump and his mother for a drama presentation next week... all in French! That would be interesting!

Sweetie picked me up after class and we went to Far East Shopping Centre to look at golf clubs. I wanted to get a second hand club (probably a 7) for my practice. Didn't manage to get a 7 and we bought a brand new 6 at 30 bucks.. :)

Then we hurried home as his parents needed the car to go for a function. We stayed home and couch-potatoed in front of the television. We watched "A Fallen Idol" on Channel News Asia. Highly entertaining! After the show, we went to the kopitiam to eat the famous prawn noodles and then trotted off to Cold Storage to get some groceries (and ice cream!) Yums.

Sunday -

I went for my golf lessons in the late afternoon. What was meant to be an hour's lessons dragged to 2 1/2 hours. I didn't mind the extended hours if I didn't have to rush to a wedding dinner. I got home at 8.15pm and dashed out of the house at 8.30pm. Was late for the dinner when I got there at 9pm.. good thing they were only starting to serve the third dish...

I was completely flat out by the time I got home at 12 after the dinner. And yeah, I knocked out.

(Hmm, I realised my entries of late are mostly very descriptional and mundane - i.e what I do and eat. Hah. Then again, its the little things like these that form the pieces of my memory jigsaw)

Golfing away

I played golf at the range, for the very first time today! ;)

And it was fun!!

A few of my balls passed the 50m mark slightly - not too bad for a first-timer eh?

Can't wait for Sunday lesson to commence!

Yesterday bleh episode is over, we talked about it and made peace. He came over for dinner today and then we went to the range to meet friends for some golf swinging!

I love this guy.

bleh bleh BLEH!!!!!!!!

Yeah- I should be very happy today.

My project was approved by my manager who then disseminated it to the entire department, including the managers. And this thing I did would be uploaded to the department site on the company's internal web.

I was happy till 9.30pm!

Am I being petty? I am not angry really, but just plain annoyed and disappointed.

Why? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

URGH! I hate this.

Mid year review

I received my mid-year review from my manager today. And I am happy with it, très heureuse!

There were compliments and positive feedback on my daily work & the recent mini project/ presentation I did. I think my manager loves my work!

:)

Praise God!

To improve my French listening skills, I have downloaded my French sound files to my faithful palm and I will endeavour to listen to them daily on my way to work. Its a 45 mins bus ride to work and since reading on the bus is out of question (feel dizzy if I do), I can/should utilise that time to listen, actively listen!

Interesting highlight of the day.

K: Food is my greatest luuuuurveeee.......
S remains silent and give K the "oh really?" look, though its more of a glare really
K: After you, of course!!
S: Ha! That was a quick save!

Woohoo!

I made it to the gym this morning!!! :D Heh, went for a 10.30am Jazz Dance class.

It was fun though my body was aching like mad after all the stretching and movement.

I figure I am going to sleep like a baby tonight. All the exercise had done me good.

Thursday morning - I will endeavour again!

Vainity est moi

So I dressed up for work.

And because I was feeling vain and bored, I took some self portraits. Heh.

Oh, and guess what? This, my friend, is funny!

I was talking to someone from Monaco today. It started out in French and halfway through the conversation, we had to switch to English cause yours truly couldn't comprehend.

Bleh, felt a little dejected. That's the thing with languages. You don't speak and listen often, you tend to lose it.

Dom recommended this when I told him about my intention to go for some immersion program after, say another year of French in Singapore.

How else to master the language, right?

Anyway, I wanted to show you all my new funky bright orange golf gloves ;)

Nice??

Things to buy

This week.

1- Shampoo
2- Golf Gloves
3- Birthday present for my kiddo brother

Funny bit of the day.

We were caught in the act by my colleagues during dinner time.

Haha, I was teased about it when I returned back to the office afterwards.

Oh in case you were thinking way off the tangent.. (yes especially you Dom..)

it was just a quick peck kinda thing on the escalator ;)

Quickie

1- I worked today (i.e May 2nd), nevermind it is a public holiday in Singapore.

That, coupled with Monday blues made it a double whammy at work today. Bleh.

2- I brought home cooked food to work for dinner

Super duper-ly yummy. Boy, my mum is a fabulous cook. She can whip up almost anything! I think she's making me ha-chiong ("prawn sauce") chicken tomorrow. Yums!

Darn, what happened to me? I can't even get my brownies right these days.

3- I discovered a syndicate of mercedes taxi today

I hopped into a a mercs cab after work today and the driver happened to be some secretary of a syndicate of 100ish mercs cabs in Singapore.

He gave me his contact number and said I could give him a call anytime I need a cab (after midnight) and he will have a mercs cab sent to my waiting place in no time. No booking fee, charges are per the meter.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Oh, I noted how his Taxi centralised system was logged off. Other than a handphone, he had a walkie talkie which he used to communicate with the other members of his team.

Hmm, interesting, bypassing the Taxi call centre..

4- I have a roll of unfinished film sitting in my compact camera

First shot was taken in end Feb for my birthday dinner... urgh its May now and I am still left with 10 shots.

I have half a mind to take random silly shots tomorrow, just so I can send the film for developing. I think I'll just bring it to work and shoot.

Stick with digi camera next time, Sharon.

5- I bought a new book today

Tuesdays with Morrie!

Batam

I'm back! It was an interesting 2 days 1 night trip.

And much to my delight, the ferry ride was rather painless and I didn't suffer from any motion sickness! :)

So we arrived at Batam Saturday morning at 11ish.

Because of the long weekend, the hotel was packed to its max capacity. And it didn't help that the hotel staff missed our reservation. Apparently the reservation was keyed into the system but they missed that out whilst allocating rooms? Weird lah. As a result, we had to wait a good hour before we were handed our room keys. Zzzzzzz

The room was not really a room per say! Its more like a 2 bedroom apartment suite! Very cosy though I felt the room facilities weren't that great. The fridge wasn't working too well and the room light was a little cranky. But at $200 a night for that and split among 4 of us, we didn't really complain too much!

After we lazed around a bit, we trotted to the town centre for some walkaround and shopping. We booked a cab for 3 hours at $30.. The drive around the island was interesting. Every corner we turn, I see construction going on.. and most of the time, these construction were left half completed. You see buildings already erected with building structures, but you see no intention of further work. Heaps of rubbish and waste piling all over these structures and moss/algae were growing over there. Lack of funds to carry on with the building work, they say. And while the finished complexes are totally modern and nicely built, they juxtapose against the squatters that the Batam people live in... the living condition is terrible with bad sanitation and I wonder how loose planks of woods tied together as shelter will withstand the sporadic harsh weather..... And mosquitoes were buzzing everywhere in these squatters... I turned to baby and we both felt the same way - we are really blessed to be living in Singapore..

Our first stop was the supermarket to stock up some drinks for the night. Things were really cheap! The bottle of 1 litre mineral water was like 50cents and a bintang beer stubbie was like a dollar plus! Hee, so we happily bought 5 bottles of water and 12 bottles of beer.. With beer costing less than coke, who could resist? ;)

(And the beer didn't taste too bad!)

Ooh and for dinner, we hooked up with the rest and we went to this kelong seafood restaurant for yummy live seafood!!! Goodness me, the amount of seafood we ate was unbelievable! The 10 of us ate lots of crabs, prawns, fish, gong gong and scallops, all washed down with coconut drink and beer! Supper yummilicious! And the bill? 18 dollars per person!

I was a little wary about the hygience of the food and was praying that my stomach wouldn't play up.. and it didn't! :) Haha, batam seafood makan trip again, anyone?

The night fell beautifully and the gang decided to play mahjong. What was intended to be a few rounds of MJ turned up to be a semi all-nighter till 4am... Haha, nah I didn't play. I was watching people play whilst flipping the TV channels (we get singapore channels over at batam too..)

Because of MJ, Sunday's golf plans didn't materialise. Everyone was so tired that we didn't crawl out of bed till 10ish. We made it just in time before the breakfast buffet ended and got our tum tums all satisfied before we checked out and made our way back home.

It was a lovely break and I totally enjoyed myself, though I think it would have been better if my golf fanatic of a baby could manage to go swinging at the golf course!

We'll be back there again, I'm sure! :)
