Ever wondered what people are thinking about when they are on the train? I was taking the MRT home back from office just now and was studying the many faces I see. I normally do not pay much attention cause I would be buried in my book, and since I forgot to bring my book out today I decided to engage in another form of reading.
Faces - they are hard to read. Facial expression - they are hard to decipher. People - they are difficult to understand. I see weary and tired faces after a hard day at work. Lovey dovey couples looking blissfully in love and oblivious to the world. Disgruntled people sulking because they weren't fast enough to grab seats. Pregnant women looking dreadfully tired and resigned that no kind soul is going to offer them seats. Toddlers wailing and helpless parents looking totally embarrassed. Inconsiderate and indiscreet people talking loudly on the phone. Weird ah peks who give you a look that makes you feel uncomfortable and you wonder if you remembered to put on your clothes before you left the house. And then you remembered you did and gave them an icy glare in return.
My imagination tends to run a little wild when I am bored and dying to get off the train. I wonder what the person would be doing when they get off the train. What goes through their mind when they are on the train? What they were doing before they got on the train?
I will be heading home to have dinner. Can the train move a little faster? Why is it so packed? Gosh, I am tired and darn I forgot my book.! Well I was leaving office and heading to the MRT station before I stopped by a shop and bought a pair of shoes..Oh great! Here's my stop, next stop wonderland. The stop that permeates the sweet scent of weekend.
