Sister Act
I met up with my sis again today after work, which was really nice. We walked around the malls a bit and did the "Do you think I look nice in this dress?" thing quite a bit.
Admittedly, its quite a reality check shopping with sisters. They are ever so blatant and honest with their comments. Well afterall, she's seen me in all my possible garbs and all the fashion mistakes! ;)
Anyway that girl got her first pay check from the new place that she's working at now and wanted to buy her big sis dinner. Man I must say I was secretly touched.
We ended up at Country Manna. I always love the soup there. Hot steaming hot in a cuppa with a soft flaky pastry over it. Totally yums.
When the bill did come, we were informed that there's discount for UOB cards. And since I am the one with an UOB card, I ended up footing the bill.
Not that I mind, really.
But that got me tickled for a wee bit. Before, the men don't get it, now the sister don't get it too!
Ha! Ok nevermind if you didn't get the lame attempt at cracking a joke.

Its a package
Wednesday is an early day for me. I get to knock off officially at 5.30pm instead of 6.30pm. I follow a 44 hours week, you see.
My sister seems to be really fond of meeting me up for after work shopping. She texted me on my cellphone and we arranged to meet up to go to town. Because she was held up at work in a meeting and because we were going to meet my bf for dinner, we didn't really shop too long. Nevertheless, we managed to get a pair of shoes (hers, paid by herself though she was hinting a tad too blatantly for me to pick the tab.. haha!) and some folders... ;D
Then the sweetie came to pick us up to go for dinner. We made our way to Newton Circus to find it being barricaded for upgrading. Were going to detour to somewhere else when we note the temporary make-shift area housing the good ole food stalls!!
Yums! Dinner was stingray, sambal kang kong, popiah, fried hokkien mee and bbq chicken wings; washed down with sugar cane juice!!
Glorious food aside, this was the first time my lil sis is sitting down on the same table with my sweetie. And I'm really glad they get along just well.
I used to think that as long as I fancy the guy, it didn't really matter if my family likes him or not. Well, the relationship is between him and me right? These days, I don't subscribe to that any longer. I think it is just as important that he gets along well with my family members.
Afterall, its come in a package. Me with my family. I don't know if you'll think this silly, but I've learnt in a hard way that family matters and blood will always run thicker than water.

Nice try
My sister is getting too pampered! That audacity of it all!!! ;D
".... you sub a credit card for me. Haha :P"
"Sub you a credit card? Can.. You pay me back what you sign loh! :>"
Goodness!! Hiyo!
**
I attended a half day induction program in the morning and came back to work after lunch.
It was a productive afternoon and I felt great that I actually did work; a good change from poring through operation process manuals and systems guides. And it felt even greater when I finished the work in 2 1/2 hours instead of taking my own sweet time with it. Its due tomorrow and there's really no rush but I set a time for myself and I worked towards meeting that timeline. The feeling of achievement and satisfaction was fabulous! :)
**
Ok, 3 more weddings to attend till the end of 2005.
And my first wedding invite of 2006! 7th Jan!! :) I'm so happy for you Grace!! *hugs*
And talking about weddings, its weird but the people I see in the office are mostly married!! And pregnant ladies are looming everywhere!!
**
Ok I'm watching America's Next Top Model on Channel 5 as I am typing this. Season finale next week.
And ooh, how apt. The show just ended and I should go to bed. Good night!!

Peace and Quiet
Sometimes I just want to hide away from the hustle and bustle of life.
The cacophony of it all drives my mind nuts, with the high decibels of noise pollution emitting from vehicles and human alike.
Is it so hard to find some peace and quiet these days?
Drats, its Sunday and work begins again tomorrow. But why do I feel so uncharged and not ready for another week of challenges at work?
Darn tiring.
I miss the peaceful and quiet weekends.

Tuesday's thought
Anyone read about the Delphi Auto Bankruptcy and the GM Jobsbank controversy?
Its amazing. This is going to shake things up a little in the auto industry.

A sisterly evening
"Finished work? Coming home for dinner?" I texted my sister when I was on my way home.
Seconds later, she rang me and told her she's at the train station where my workplace is (her workplace is one station away from mine); so I arranged to meet her at the MRT interchange to go home together.
During the journey home, I asked if she wanted to drop by the mall to do some shopping. She grinned a yes and so we got off at the neighbourhood shopping mall.
One and a half hour later, we left the mall with two shopping bags, and some groceries Mum wanted. Both shopping bags contained her stuff - pants and make up stuff, all fully sponsored by her wonderful elder sister, ie moi.
:) She was as happy as a lark, that girl.
And we came home to dinner and a trial make up session. Mum and Dad were amused at how vain she can be. She even made me apply nail varnish for her. Haha! Vainpot!

Busy as a bee
Sorry for the hiatus. I've been really tired and swamped with activities, work and non work related.
Tuesday saw the demise of Bridget (i.e my Ipod) and I had to pop in the reinstallation CD. All is well now but the whole 'Save Bridget' operation had me up till 1am.
Wednesday was the birthday of the boyfriend and we went out with his folks for dinner.
I got him a heart shaped cookie, a tie and a mobile phone for his birthday.
The silly goose only nibbled a bit of the cookie cause he said he couldn't bear to eat it..
Work wise, the initial honeymoon period is definitely coming to an end.. Met my boss who flew in from Hong Kong and been given the responsibility for a project. Well its not a major project but its a good start and she seems to have loads of confidence in my capability and work performance. I'm hoping I won't disappoint her.
Weekend was lots of driving around the whole of Singapore as the boyfriend is looking to get a car. We drove to used cars centre and new cars showrooms all afternoon. Its amazing how the new cars showroom are packed with eager car owners wannabes. I guess the recent dip in COE was a major pull factor but I doubt the low price will sustain for too long. With all these demand, supply will go down and price will go up right?
Yawns...I am feeling extremely tired and I think I shall turn in early. Here's to a good week at work! :)

What a blessed day
I am getting used to the early starts in the morning. Minus the morning traffic/human jam, it is really quite pleasant waking up to fresh air and dewy skies.
I walked to the train station with my kiddo brother this morning at 7.15am, and we chatted a little. Its amazing how fast kids these days grow. He's already 20 but will always be "ah boy" in my eyes. When I was doing the funny shift at the previous workplace, I don't see my brother till the weekend provided he's not out of the house early in the morning for his chess games.
After we parted our ways this morning, I reminisced on the days where I used to take him out to watch the latest disney show cartoons showing at the movie theatre. I would ask mum for $20 and we'll go out for lunch and movie. I think he was 7 or 8 and I was 5 years older then. I remembered his happy face whenever I told him I was going to take him to the movies! These days, its quite rare for us to be both home at the same time. Like now, I'm home tapping away and he's still not back from his chess training (My brother is a chinese weiqi fanatic and he goes for training thrice a week. He'll be going to Bangkok for some competition in 2 weeks time. That's how devoted and good he is at that black and white game, which I still cannot fathom..)
After work, I texted my younger sis who just started work at a new place today. Her new workplace is near my previous workplace and I went to meet her there, so I could show her the area and where to take bus etc. Well, she could probably figure it all out by herself but since I had the time, I figured I could go meet her and come home together with her. Its been a while since I last hanged out with my sister. No chess fanatism this time, but the presence of the big "b" aka boyfriends make it hard for us sisters to spend some quiet moments together.
So we trotted to the bus stop and I gave her the details on what buses to take etc. We yakked all the way home and I am glad she had a lovely first day at work & that her team mates seem pretty jovial and friendly towards her. And she certainly look happier than she was at the old workplace.
We got home around 8-ish all hungry and tired. Mum had dinner ready for us & both her and Dad were waiting for us to come home, to have dinner together. No delicacies but home-cooked dinner with family at home is always nice.
Sometimes it doesn't take much to feel happy and content. I am feeling blessed.

Zoomed!
Why does the weekend feel so short?
Its back to work tomorrow and I hope things pick up a little. I could do with a little more action ;)
Ok time to hit the sack or I'll look like a panda bear tomorrow.
I'm a changed woman. I go to bed early and I wake up at freaking 6am now!! Oh and I eat 3 meals regularly now.
